Kumasi Technical University has been adjudged the best Technical Institution in Ghana ahead of all other Technical Universities in the 2022 Global Webometrics Universities Ranking. The 2022 AD Scientific Index placed more emphasis on the biophysical sciences, and ranked KsTU at the 8th position out of the 90 Universities surveyed in Ghana and at 134 out of the 2,049 Universities in Africa.
Both the Webometrics and the AD Scientific Index rank institutions based on their performance across various standard indicators of excellence. These include the quality of education, the quality of faculties within the individual universities, international collaborations, the number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics, the total number of research in the Science Citation Index-Expanded and Social Science Citation Index, as well as the number of research articles receiving a high number of citations among others.
In Ghana, the leading universities are the University of Ghana followed by Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) ranked 15th and 18th respectively in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Kumasi Technical University emerged the Best Technical University in the country and was followed by Ho Technical University. The rankings were produced to provide insight into how universities are compared globally.
